This class concentrates on configuring and maintaining the Symantec Enterprise Firewall for Windows NT in an established network. Students are immersed in concepts that are intrinsic for the configuration and day-to-day running of the Symantec Enterprise Firewall. This includes creating network entities, rules, address transformation, service redirection, and generic service passing (GSP or All Application Proxy).

In addition, students are introduced to Internet Protocol basics as an adjunct to service redirection and GSP.

Lab exercises are used throughout the course to reinforce concepts and procedures presented in class.

The primary objective of this course is to enable students to perform basic administration and maintenance tasks for the Symantec Enterprise Firewall for NT/2000 (Version 7.0) platform using the Symantec Raptor Management Console (SRMC). The premise for this course is that students are responsible for an existing Symantec Enterprise Firewall system and need to understand how to perform ongoing configuration changes, management, and maintenance. After completing this course, the students will be able to do the following:

	Define rules that allow or disallow the flow of IP traffic through the firewall for common applications
	Define custom rules to meet the requirements for less typical applications
	Apply user authentication requirements to rules
	Implement a VPN for the Symantec Enterprise VPN Client
	Implement address management procedures to perform service redirects and address transforms
