Learn to better understand the techniques of performance analysis of systems and partitions running i5/OS. Increase your knowledge on how the system operates and interfaces with applications. Acquire the skills to better manage performance on the systems and partitions running i5/OS.

New i5/OS V6R1 and POWER6 topics include discussions on multiple virtual shared processor pools and the benefits of configuring dedicated processor partitions to donate processor capacity. An introduction to using the new browser-based i5/OS V6R1 interface for performance analysis through IBM System Director Navigator for i5/OS has also been added.

The hands-on labs (based on i5/OS V5R4 and V6R1 data) focus on a review methodology using Performance Tools for iSeries License Program Product and the performance database files associated with this product. A method to analyze run time of jobs using 'wait buckets' created by Collection Services will help you understand ways to improve performance.
