This course teaches developers to program portlets for AquaLogic Interaction 6.0 using the AquaLogic Interaction Development Kit (IDK). The programming environment is either Java (using the Eclipse IDE) or C# (using Visual Studio .NET). The course teaches what developers need for remote tier programming using the IDK. In addition, it covers fundamental concepts about integrating and deploying application code within AquaLogic Interaction. Finally, developers learn to use AJAX-based libraries to incorporate client-side event handling and to request server-side processing from the client. The course adopts a strategy that emphasizes a major benefit of the 6.0 release - the ability to develop applications and customize the user interface with minimal programming. The course first teaches about application development which requires little programming skill, such as using the AquaLogic Interaction XML tags called Adaptive Tags. The final two-thirds of the class teaches how to use the IDK API to develop robust portlets that use AquaLogic Interaction security, profile data and other core services such as search.
