This intermediate course is for experienced CICS application programmers who have completed a basic course and need to develop skills in the use of advanced CICS application services.
 
prerequisites
  
 
Before taking this course, you should be able to:

Code CICS command level programs that perform such functions as:

Reading, browsing and updating VSAM files
Sending and receiving simple BMS maps
Passing data to another program or task using the communication area
Demonstrate basic debugging skills, such as the use of CEDF
These skills can be developed by taking CICS V3.2 Command Level Coding (WM860CE).

Update files across terminal interactions of a pseudo-conversational transaction with integrity
Access data outside the program using the COBOL linkage section
Use a message table to provide standard error messages for end users
Start a task and print reports on a CICS-controlled printer
Define panels conforming to the Common User Access entry-level model
Serialize operations on protected resources using enqueue/dequeue
Use the COBOL CALL to transfer and pass information to another CICS command level program
Send messages to other terminals or users
