The Sun Software RAID Storage Systems Maintenance course provides students with the information and hands-on exercises needed to troubleshoot and maintain the Sun StorEdge D1000, D2 and A5000 series storage arrays. During this course students will test, troubleshoot, disassemble, repair, and rebuild these enterprise storage systems while minimizing impact on critical data center operations.

Students who can benefit from this course are Sun field engineers responsible for troubleshooting and replacing hardware components; Sun enterprise system self-maintainers; Sun field engineers and service providers who supply direct customer support for installation and maintenance at customer sites; and Sun technical support engineers who provide telephone support for self-maintainers, authorized service providers, and Sun Services field engineers.

NOTE: This course is intended for students who maintain their own systems. Maintenance you perform on your Sun systems may void your warranty or service contract with Sun.

Describe a database and describe the tools to administer it Perform troubleshooting tasks on storage systems *Use the hardware and software tools required to administer enterprise servers

Identify key components of the Sun disk storage architecture
Describe how storage devices are configured in the Solaris Operating Environment kernel
Use storage-related Solaris Operating Environment commands
Test, troubleshoot, disassemble, repair and rebuild the D1000, D2, A5000, and fast write cache storage systems
Perform maintenance tasks using the StorTools, luxadm, and SunVTS storage management utilities

  Module 3 - Sun StorEdge D1000 Array

Identify each field replaceable unit (FRU) in the Sun StorEdge D1000 array
Describe the purpose of each FRU and removable device in the Sun StorEdge D1000 array
Describe the purpose and components of the Sun StorEdge D1000 array

  Module 4 - Sun StorEdge D2 Array

Describe the features and functions of the Sun StorEdge D2 array
